South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will hold his first summit with U.S. President Donald Trump on August 25 in Washington, D.C. The meeting, which follows the recent conclusion of a tariff deal, is expected to address a range of critical issues, from security to economic cooperation.
According to a presidential spokesperson, the two leaders will discuss strengthening their alliance and establishing a “future-oriented comprehensive strategic partnership.” Key topics on the agenda include enhancing defense cooperation, promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula, and pursuing denuclearization. The leaders are also expected to finalize details of the recent tariff negotiations, which include South Korea’s planned investment in the U.S. in sectors such as semiconductors, batteries, and shipbuilding.
